National Famine Way Full Walk Registration 


Throughout the walk, you will also experience: 

  • Short history talks at key locations, offering insight into the story of the 1,490  

  • Opportunities for engagement with communities along the route 

  • Informal evening gathering points at selected locations, with music and shared reflection 

The experience includes a Canadian Wake ceremony at the National Famine Museum in Strokestown at the beginning of the walk, and a simple completion ceremony at EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum in Dublin, symbolically linking departure and arrival. 

Optional additional experiences (at extra cost) may include: 
Visits to Corlea Trackway, a traditional famine soup and maize bread experience at Cloughan Farm & Cookery School, the Hill of Uisneach, and the Carn Famine Village. 

Please note: 
Accommodation, luggage transfers, transport, and any additional services are not included in registration. These can be arranged independently or through a tour operator, which we strongly recommend. 

Packs will be available for collection at the Canadian Wake in Strokestown on 16th May.

What Happens Next

  • A detailed schedule and route information will be shared with you in advance of the walk
  • You will be added to a WhatsApp group closer to the start date for updates and communication
  • We will send a follow-up email with details of optional additional experiences that may be available during the walk.

Pack Collection

Your Remembrance Walk Pack will be collected in person at the Canadian Wake at the National Famine Museum, Strokestown.

Before You Arrive

Please ensure that:

  • Your accommodation and luggage transfers are arranged in advance 
  • You are prepared to walk distances of 18–25km per day
  • You have appropriate footwear and weather-ready clothing
