This special hour-long tour by the curator will look at the many, behind-the-scenes, projects that the Irish Heritage Trust has carried out to safeguard the House, its contents, and outbuildings. We will focus on the major threats to historic collections and measures to reduce deterioration. You will learn, for example, about our recent Heritage Council-funded project to install UV filters to reduce light damage; the dismantling and reconstruction of the Kitchen Gallery and Portico; addressing dry-rot; controlling humidity; stabilising the Mausoleum; recent upgrades to the House; restoration of the Greenhouses, etc. This promises to be an informative event.
It will be free to the public but places will be limited to 25 persons – so prior booking is essential.
