This years theme is "Irish Journeys: Famine Legacies and Reconnecting Communities".

Keynote speakers are Professor Christine Kinealy (Quinnipiac University), Professor Mike Cronin (Boston University), Professor Maura Murphy (Hofstra University), Professor Mark McGowan (University of Toronto) and Professor Ian Kuijt (University of Notre Dame). 

The Irish Famine Summer School is an annual international conference which allows delegates to engage with some of the world’s leading interdisciplinary experts in the Irish Famine.

The Summer School alternates each year between Strokestown Park, home of the Irish National Famine Museum and Quinnipiac University, Connecticut, home of Ireland's Great Hunger Institute.

The conference takes place at Strokestown Park House, Strokestown, Co. Roscommon. Preceedings will begin on the 20th of June with an evening launch and run until 24th June 2018.
